Gearing up for Eid, Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has entered its final stages of preparation of the full program of events. The festival features a range of activities and events to suit all ages.
The event will launch on the first day of Eid al-Fitr and run for 10 days in shopping centers (malls), the Doha Exhibition Center, Souq Waqif and Katara Cultural Village among others.
The campaign promotes Qatar as a tourist destination combining adherence to customs and traditions while offering art and cultural facilities, hotels and restaurants, shopping centers and recreation and entertainment for families.
HE Eng Issa Mohammed Al-Mohannadi, chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority, said: “Qatar will be the destination of choice for families during the festival. The program of activities will be run for more than 35 days in the Doha Exhibition Center, including events, artistic performances and cultural and recreational activities.”
Qatar’s tourism sector grew by 13% during the first quarter of 2013 compared to 2012 as a result of the booming hospitality sector, which is witnessing spectacular growth rates. The number of hotels under construction has reached 110; when completed they will add 19,931 additional rooms for visitors. Total hotel capacity for hotels in Qatar at the end of 2012 was 13,407 rooms.
