Carnival Cruise Lines has released a statement confirming it set a one week reservations record in late January, taking bookings for 187,283 passengers between 28 January and 3 February 2013.
The line, which has 24 ships in its fleet, operates three to 18-day voyages from a selection of North American ports and offers a variety of European and Australian itineraries.
Carnival president and CEO, Gerry Cahill, attributed the record booking to several factors, such as the recognition among guests of the value provided by a Carnival cruise vacation, particularly since the company’s US$500 million ‘Fun Ship 2.0’ enhancement initiative, as well as a high level of support from the line’s travel agent partners.
Marketing schemes include the ‘Vacation Awesome-ation’ sale and prize giveaway held last week, and promotional activities regarding the upcoming debut of Carnival Sunshine, which encompasses a US$155 million makeover followed by the launch of Mediterranean voyages in April.
“Consumers continue to seek value in their discretionary purchases and we’ve taken the value of a Carnival cruise vacation to a completely new level with an extensive range of product innovations and enhancements that are receiving tremendous accolades and enticing more and more consumers to vacation with us.” Cahill said.
