Royal Brunei Airlines has launched Boeing 787 Dreamliner flights to Melbourne.

The new fuel-efficient, twin-aisle jet touched down at Melbourne Airport for the first time on Thursday, and will now serve the Australian city daily, direct from Brunei.

Royal Brunei became the first Southeast Asian airline to operate the Dreamliner, when it received its first new B787-8 aircraft in October 2013. It now operates two of the aircraft, with one flying to London (via Dubai) and the second deployed Down Under on the Melbourne route.

The new aircraft comes equipped with 254 seats in two classes, including 18 flat-bed seats in business class and 236 seats in economy.

Royal Brunei becomes the third airline to operate the Dreamliner at Melbourne Airport, following Jetstar and Air India.
