The liner docked at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre on Wednesday, following an eight-night voyage from Shanghai. It will now homeport in Singapore until March 2015, offering a total of 29 sailings.

These will include a range of three-, four- and five-night itineraries to such destinations as Kuala Lumpur, Kuantan, Penang, Langkawi and Phuket. It will also embark on a series of longer seven-night cruises to Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City.

The season also features festive cruises for Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year.

The 15-deck, 3,800-passenger Mariner of the Seas is the Royal Caribbean’s largest Asia-based ship and offers a range of facilities, including duty-free shops, an ice-skating rink, full-sized sports court and rock-climbing wall.

There is also a three-tier theatre, and the ship is part of Royal Caribbean’s tie-up with DreamWorks, which will see characters from Shrek, Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda entertain guests.
