Sarovar Hotels has opened a new property in the hill station of Palampur, which is considered India’s tea capital.

The new RS Sarovar Portico Palampur becomes the Himachal Pradesh town’s first branded hotel.

It offers 43 rooms and suites, all with views of the Dhauladhar mountains, plus a revolving restaurant, a sixth floor bar with 360-degree views, a fitness centre, and Palampur’s largest conference and banqueting facilities.

The hotel was launched in the presence of Major Vijay Singh Mankotia, vice chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department, Jagdish Sipahiya, chairman of Kangra Cooperative Bank, Rajesh Ranjan, Sarovar’s director of development, and Keshav Chauhan, managing director of RS Construction.

“We are very glad to be launching the first branded hotel of Palampur,” said Ranjan. “Palampur is an important leisure destination that attracts nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts. It is the gateway to numerous tourist and pilgrimage destinations in Himachal Pradesh. We hope to bring in a new level of comfort and facilities to travellers to this region with our superior accommodation and excellent services.”

The new hotel is located 6km from Palampur Railway Station and 40km from Kangra Airport. It joins Sarovar’s portfolio of more than 75 hotels in 50 destinations across India.
