Scoot has become the first low-cost carrier, and the first airline in the Asia Pacific region, to be featured on Skyscanner’s Direct Booking platform.
Skyscanner is a meta-search site which aggregates fares from other sources. Usually, when booking a fare via Skyscanner, users are directed to the supplier’s site. But with Direct Booking they can complete the transaction without leaving Skyscanner. This is available via the company’s desktop and mobile platforms.
The first phase of roll-out, initially to the Australia, Singapore, India and UK markets, will enable Skyscanner users to search for and book Scoot’s fares directly within Skyscanner site. Ancillary services such as baggage and preferred seating will be added in future.
Filip Filipov, Skyscanner’s director of product, commented; “We believe our powerful direct booking capability is good for customers who can complete their booking with as little friction as possible, and good for airlines, giving our partners like Scoot the ability to showcase their ancillary product options directly to the booking customer.”
The Direct Booking partnership comes thanks to the recent integration of the Navitaire reservation system into Skyscanner’s platform.
