The Shangri-La hotel due to open at The Shard has finally had its launch date announced.
The hotel will finally open on 6 May 2014 after several construction delays to both the building itself and then fitting the hotel.
It will be London’s first high-rise hotel and will occupy the 34 to 52 levels of the building and will have double floor-to-ceiling windows in its lobby to show off the views.
It will have 202 rooms and suites with venues including the GŎNG bar on level 52; signature restaurant TING on level 35 and an artisan deli LANG on the ground floor.
Bookings will open up on 17 March from GBP450 a night.
“We are thrilled to be opening our doors in May after a number of years of planning and preparation,” said Darren Gearing, executive vice president and hotel general manager of Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London.
The London opening is part of a string of launches by Shangri-La in Europe including debuts in Paris in 2010 and Istanbul last year.
“Our continued expansion in Europe reflects the growth opportunities for the brand and portfolio,” said Shangri-La president and CEO Greg Dogan. “The Shard is a landmark synonymous with London and we hope to encourage visitors to our hotel, and the surrounding area. We are truly excited to be an integral part of the ongoing development of the South Bank community and the borough of Southwark.”
