Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to debut its Sheraton brand in South Australia, with the signing of the Sheraton Adelaide.
Scheduled to open in 2019, the upscale hotel will form part of a new mixed-use development on O’Connell Street that will also feature luxury apartments, offices and retail space.
The Sheraton Adelaide further expands Starwood’s presence in South Australian, following the recent signing of Aloft Adelaide.
“Starwood’s second hotel signing in Adelaide this year further demonstrates our robust pipeline and growing footprint in Australia and the Pacific region,” said Sean Hunt, Starwood’s regional vice president for the Pacific.
“As one of the most global hotel brands in our portfolio, Sheraton continues to experience accelerated international growth in key markets. Our recently announced ‘Sheraton 2020’ 10-point vision includes the goal of adding 150 new hotels by the year 2020 across the globe, and the signing of Sheraton Adelaide is an important step in building that momentum here in Australia.”
Once open, Sheraton Adelaide Hotel will feature 160 rooms, two dining venues, a fitness centre, indoor swimming pool and extensive function space, including a 307m² ballroom. The broader complex will include also a 16-storey apartment tower and eight other buildings linked by a piazza and gardens.
The signing of Sheraton Adelaide follows the recent announcements of several other Starwood hotels in Australia, including Aloft Sydney Pitt Street, Aloft Adelaide, W Brisbane, Westin Brisbane and Westin Perth.
