Singapore Airlines has announced a new interline partnership with UK airline Flybe.
The deal will see more than 100 Singapore Airlines destinations across South East Asia and Australasia become more accessible to UK consumers.
Customers from 19 UK towns and cities are now able to book to fly with Singapore Airlines long-haul, to also include Flybe connections departing from their local airport.
From the UK, Singapore Airlines currently flies four times daily from London Heathrow and daily from Manchester to Singapore for onward connections. Beginning 30 October, however, available destinations from Manchester will increase beyond connections to Asia and Australasia to also include the United States, as the airline will launch its first ever transatlantic route from the UK – Manchester to Houston – to complement the long-standing Manchester-Singapore flight.
The new Flybe partnership opens up additional connections via Amsterdam, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Dusseldorf, with several of the cities now able to connect to Singapore Airlines’ vast array of destinations for the first time.
Consumer benefits to the new partnership are many:
- New destinations more accessible via 19 regional UK airports
- Through-ticketing to allow the automatic transfer of luggage between Flybe and Singapore Airlines operated flights, where the larger Singapore Airlines baggage allowance of 30kg pp (economy) applies
- Through-ticketing ensures customer protection in the event of either leg of the journey being disrupted (not available if tickets are purchased separately)
- Reduction in Air Passenger Duty versus purchasing long-haul and short-haul tickets separately
- Easy booking via the GDS and simple combined fares.
