Singapore targets Gulf patients for medical tourism

ome at Singapore’s Raffles Hospital with rooms designed for specifically for Middle Easterners, announced Singapore tourism officials.
A new class of private rooms at Raffles hospital has been designed with cultural-specific needs of Gulf and Middle Eastern in-patients in mind, providing a more pleasant healing process while receiving quality medical care.
“Raffles Hospital has taken a very proactive approach to enhancing services for international patients, specifically those from the GCC and Middle East,” said Dubai-based Mohamed Hafez Marican, area director for the Middle East and Africa, Singapore Tourism Board. “This patient-centric initiative conveys Singapore’s commitment to providing quality healthcare within a world-class tourism destination.”
Each of the new rooms provides Middle Eastern and Gulf in-patients with a multitude of amenities such as a Qibla, Quran, and prayer mats; Arabic-language media and entertainment; extra living space for family members and visitors; and a menu offering a variety of Halal Arabic cuisine.
Most importantly, however, Raffles Hospital offers Arabic-language concierge services for patients and their families, which include translation services, and appointment and airport pick-ups and transfers. All services are conducted by both male and female Arab doctors and staff.
