Spring Airlines will start a major international expansion effort this month, with the launch of multiple new routes to Japan, Korea and Thailand.
On 25 December 2014, the Chinese low-cost carrier will launch three weekly flights (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) from the northern Chinese city of Harbin to the Korean island of Jeju. This will make Spring the first and only budget airline operate international flights from Harbin.
Then a day later on 26 December, Spring will launch flights from Tianjin to Jeju. This route will operate on remaining four days of the week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays).
Spring’s expansion will then continue in 2015, with the start of flights to Osaka from Lanzhou, the capital of western China’s Gansu province. The daily service will get underway on 23 January and will feature a stop in Shanghai.
And on 24 January, Spring will add another route to Osaka, with three weekly flights (Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays) direct from the Chinese port city of Qingdao.
Finally on 9 February 2015, the LCC will expand its operations in Thailand with the addition of four weekly flights from Shanghai to Krabi. This route will run every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
All the new services will be operated using Spring’s fleet of 180-seat, all-economy Airbus A320 aircraft.
