SriLankan Airlines have signed a new agreement to expand its operations in East Asia.
Under a new codeshare agreement with its oneworld alliance partner Japan Airlines, SriLankan will be able to connect to new destinations in Japan and Korea.
Effective 2 December 2014, SriLankan will start placing its ‘UL’ code on JAL’s flights between Bangkok and Tokyo Narita Airport and Osaka Kansai Airport. Then from 20 December, JAL’s new Bangkok-Nagoya service will be added to the codeshare.
The agreement will also include onward routes from Tokyo to the Korean cities of Seoul and Busan.
In return, JAL will be able to place its ‘JL’ code on SriLankan’s flights between Colombo and both Bangkok and Tokyo Narita, and then onwards from Colombo to the Maldives.
