Starwood Hotels & Resorts has expanded its Tribute Portfolio brand in Asia Pacific with the signing of a new property in Jakarta.

The existing Hermitage Menteng Hotel in Jakarta will be re-flagged before the end of 2015, becoming The Hermitage, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Jakarta. It will become the brand’s second hotel in Asia Pacific region, following its recent debut in Japan.

“The signing of The Hermitage Jakarta marks Starwood’s continued expansion in one of the region’s most booming markets,” said Rajit Sukumaran, Starwood’s senior vice president of acquisition & development for Asia Pacific. “The Hermitage is an iconic property with rich history and grandeur, and we look forward to working closely with PT Menteng Heritage Realty (the hotel’s owner) to create distinct experiences for our SPG members and guests.”

Set in a 1920s Dutch colonial building, The Hermitage features 90 rooms and suites, four F&B outlets including a rooftop bar, a rooftop pool and almost 400m² of function space, including a ballroom.

Starwood currently operates 17 hotels in Indonesia under seven of its brands, and has almost 15 additional properties in the pipeline, including The Hermitage.

The Tribute Portfolio, which launched in April 2015, currently features five hotels in the US, UK and Japan, with several more in the pipeline. The brand is geared towards upscale hotels that wish to take advantage of Starwood’s global network whilst retaining their own brand.
