OYO Rooms, the Indian hotel booking site, has formed a new partnership with the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC).
The arrangement is aimed at boosting hotel occupancy at the state-run Haritha properties. All Haritha properties will be made available for booking via OYO Rooms, and a nationwide campaign to promote tourism in Telangana will be undertaken in conjunction with the online bookings site. OYO Rooms will also audit the Haritha hotels and provide feedback to the state department.
“This is a great opportunity for us as it will enable us to bring our expertise of standardisation of rooms to a large number of government-run properties,” said Anuj Tejpal, chief business development officer of OYO Rooms.
“We will be running end-to-end operations and will be generating demand for these properties. Moreover, with this partnership we will gain access to some of Telangana’s best hotels and help promote tourism in the state.
“The tech savvy and innovative approach from the TSTDC officials is very motivating for young companies like OYO,” he added.
As part of the agreement, Haritha properties will also be available via the OYO Rooms mobile app, which has been downloaded more than 1.5 million times.
