Qantas has enhanced its Southeast Asian operations following the signing of a new codeshare agreement with Bangkok Airways.
From 30 March, Qantas passengers will be able to book Bangkok Airways’ flights to five new destinations in Thailand: Koh Samui (from Bangkok and Singapore) and Phuket, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Krabi (from Bangkok).
“This partnership is great news for our customers travelling to resort destinations in Thailand,” said Qantas International’s CEO, Simon Hickey.
“The new codeshare services will allow customers to connect to their holiday destination via Bangkok or Singapore, with more opportunities to earn frequent flyer points and have their luggage checked straight through to their final destination.”
As part of the reciprocal agreement, Bangkok Airways passengers will also be able to book Qantas flights from Bangkok and Singapore to Australia, and a number of routes on Qantas’ domestic network.
Qantas has been upgrading its Asian network since last year, when the new partnership with Emirates led to its ‘kangaroo route’ services being re-routed via Dubai. Since then, Qantas has signed a new codeshare with China Southern Airlines and added extra services to Hong Kong.
