Airports of Thailand (AoT), the state-run company that operates most of Thailand’s airports, has signed a new partnership with New Kansai International Airport Company (NKIAC), which manages Osaka‘s two hubs.
The agreement was initiated “with the objective of facilitating Thai and Japanese tourists travelling between Thailand and Japan”, and will see AoT promote the Kansai region’s tourist attractions at Bangkok Don Mueang, Phuket and Chiang Mai airports.
Likewise, NKIAC will promote Thai attractions to Japanese travellers at Osaka and Kansai airports.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) welcomed the partnership and said it would assist AoT.
“TAT is lending support to AoT by providing relevant promotional materials of Thai tourist destinations and activities, including our 2015 Discover Thainess video presentation,” said Sugree Sithivanich, the TAT’s deputy governor for marketing communications.
“We hope this cooperation will help attract the interest of Japanese travellers, who want to experience the many unique aspects of Thainess; such as, Thai boxing, dancing, cooking and the Thai way of life while holidaying in Thailand.”
Thai Airways, Thai AirAsia X, ANA and JAL all fly direct between Bangkok and Osaka.
