MARIO HARDY has been confirmed as the new chief executive officer of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA). The move marks a promotion for Hardy, who has served as PATA’s chief operations officer since January this year. Previously he spent 14 years working for UBM/OAG, heading up its Asian operations.
RAJIT SUKUMARAN has been named as Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ new vice president of acquisitions & development for Asia Pacific, excluding China. Based in Singapore, he will also oversee Starwood’s regional development offices in Tokyo, Delhi, Jakarta and Sydney. Sukumaran has been with the company since 2005.
KALPESH TANA has been announced as FRHI Hotels & Resorts’ new vice president and general counsel for the Middle East, Africa & India. Tana brings close to 20 years of legal experience to the role and joins FRHI from his most recent position as partner of head of retail, hotels & leisure with law firm, Osborne Clarke.
RUBEN DERKSEN has become the new general manager of Khiri Travel Sri Lanka. Formerly the company’s general manager for Laos, Derksen now moves to Colombo to oversee the new unit. Derksen has been working closely with joint venture partner, Luxe Asia, to develop new Sri Lankan travel experiences.
RAKHI PUROHIT has been announced as the new regional director of sales, marketing, revenue & distribution for Absolute Hotel Services India. Ms Purohit brings 17 years of experience to the role, including more than five years in the UK as a cluster revenue manager. She has also worked in India.
PASCAL BILLON has been appointed general manager of the Outrigger Konotta Maldives Resort, which is due to open in mid-2015. Billon is no stranger to the Maldives, having most recently served as general manager of the five-star Lily Beach Resort & Spa. He has also been a GM for Starwood in Russia.
RAJAT CHATTERJEE has become the new general manager of the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit and Marriott Executive Apartments Sukhumvit, Thonglor. An Indian national, Chatterjee first joined Marriott in 2002 as director of rooms at the JW Marriott Mumbai. He moves to Bangkok from the Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel.
