The latest industry appointments

KELVIN TAN has been appointed as Celebrity Cruises’ new commercial director for Asia Pacific. Tan moves to Celebrity from the brand’s parent company, Royal Caribbean, where he served as regional director for Asia. Prior to joining the company in 2000, Tan was the senior manager of Sime Travel.

ANTONY PRICE has become Air New Zealand’s new general manager for the UK & Europe. Price moves to London from his previously role as Air NZ’s director of sales & market development for the Americas, based in Los Angeles. He also had a 12-year stint working with British Airways.

SHANTHA DE SILVA has been appointed general manager at the InterContinental Singapore, while remaining as IHG’s director of operations for Singapore, Malaysia & the Philippines. De Silva started his career in 1982 at the InterContinental Colombo and has since worked in Cambodia, Indonesia and Singapore.

THOMAS BARGUIL has become the new general manager at the Anantara Hua Hin Resort & Spa in Thailand. A French national, Barguil has almost 20 years’ hotel experience, including spells in Egypt, Morocco, DR Congo, Mauritius and Thailand. He was previously GM of The Residence Maldives.

STEPHAN WINKLER has been announced as the new general manager of the Anantara Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa. A German national, Winkler has 30 years’ experience including spells with Kempinski and Starwood in Europe, Africa and Asia. He previously managed in Indonesia at the Sheraton in Lombok.

BILL ROSE has been announced as new chief information officer for Pegasus Solutions. The move marks a promotion for Rose, who previously served as the company’s senior vice president of IT global services. He joined Pegasus in 2010 with more than 25 years’ IT experience.

JONTY BRUNNER has been named as British Airways’ new regional general manager for Japan & Korea, based in Tokyo. Brunner has been with BA for five years in various capacities. He will replace Vishal Sinha, who oversaw the airline’s Japan and Korea operations for the past five years.

CARLOS SOUZA has been appointed as general manager of the Crowne Plaza Hong Kong Kowloon East and Holiday Inn Express Hong Kong Kowloon East. Having joined IHG in 2001, Souza most recently served as GM of the InterContinental One Thousand Island Lake Resort in Hangzhou.

LANCE OUREDNIK has been named general manager of the Westin Singapore. With more than 39 years of experience in the luxury hospitality sector, Ourednik has held several senior roles with Starwood in Beijing, Guilin and Xiamen. Most recently he opened the Westin Mumbai Garden City.

SUSHIL SHARMA has been announced as the new hotel manager at the Westin Singapore. Sharma is an experienced hotelier and has served in various hospitality management roles across Europe, Asia and North America. He arrives at the new Starwood property from the Westin Mumbai Garden City.
