Gary Gillespie has been named head of sales in the UK for Innstant Travel. Gillespie joins the Dublin-based firm from nine years at Thomas Cook’s Flexibletrips and has joined to build Innstant as a ‘major force’ in the UK market for hotel and ticket bookings. He has also held senior sales roles at Hays Travel.
Allison Graham has joined Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines as area sales executive for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Graham will cover Scotland, North Cumbria and Northern Ireland working closely with travel agents and organisations to promote and sell cruises. She joins the cruise line from Princess Cruises.
Victoria Evans has been appointed sales executive, Scotland and Northern England for bmi regional. Evans will be based in Aberdeen and will manage business and leisure sales across airports including Aberdeen, Manchester and Newcastle. She joins from Starwood Hotels & Resorts in the US and has more than 20 years’ experience in travel.
Richard Adams has joined Collette as UK head of marketing and Susan Byrne has been named customer care manager at the tour operator. The two appointments have been made as the company continues its growth including a move to larger offices. Adams has previously worked for Astbury Travel, Fred. Olsen and Great Rail Journeys in marketing roles, while Byrne has held roles with Thomson, TUI UK, ABTA and Wendy Wu Tours.
Jeff Mason has been appointed partnerships manager at Caxton FX. Mason will develop relationships with the travel industry and source partnerships with agents and operators for the Caxton FX prepaid card in his role. He joins from MasterCard-owned company Access Prepaid Worldwide.
Shai Weiss has been named chief financial officer at Virgin Atlantic. Weiss will take up the new role on 7 July having been an investment partner at Virgin Group since 2007. He also serves on a number of Virgin Group boards including Virgin Atlantic and has also oversaw the merger and rebrand of Virgin Media.
Caroline Strachan is the new vice president, global business consulting EMEA at American Express Global Business Travel. Strachan was previously global commercial lead for business travel management at AstraZeneca and has managed travel programmes at Yahoo! and Cisco. She has also chaired the GBTA in Europe and ITM in the UK.
John Billane has been named general manager of the Legacy Falcon Hotel in Stratford. Billane rejoins the hotel sector after four years with care home group Signature Senior Lifestyle. His previous hotel experience includes GM of the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel and area director for Stakis Hotels.
Matilda Goes has been appointed sales manager for conference and incentive industry at Air Partner. Goes has previously worked for KLM and Lufthansa as well as Air Plus where she promoted a new product. She will now look to develop business in various sectors for Air Partner.
Vicente Neto has been named as the new president of Embratur, the Brazilian Tourism Institute. Neto takes over Flavio Dino who was in office since 2011 and leaves to run for government in Maranhao. Neto was an advisor to Dino and has also held several government roles in sport and leisure.
