The latest industry appointments – Asia
CHITTY CHEUNG has been announced as Cathay Pacific’s new Director of Corporate Affairs. Ms Cheung is currently the airline’s General Manager of Sales for the Pearl River Delta & Hong Kong. She will take up her new responsibilities over the summer.
LOGAN VELAITHAM has been named as AirAsia’s new Country Head for Singapore. Velaitham has more than 20 years’ experience, most recently serving as the low-cost carrier’s Regional Head of Customer Experience. He will be responsible for both Singapore and Johor.
ROGER PFUND has been named as a new member of the Global Business Travel Association’s (GBTA) Advisory Board for Asia. Pfund is RADIUS’ General Manager for Asia Pacific, and will now work on the board’s education and events programme in Asia.
PIETER ELBERS has joined the KLM Management Board. His proposed appointment was approved last week during KLM’s AGM. Elbers joined the Dutch airline in 1992 and has served as its Chief Operating Officer since 2011. He has also held several international posts.
PHILIP WONG has been named as the General Manager of the Dorsett Regency Singapore, the new hotel from Kosmopolito Hotels International which is due to open end of the year. Wong most recently served as GM of the Sovereign Hotel in the Chinese city of Zhanjiang.
THOMAS MUELLER has been appointed new General Manager of The Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa Phuket. A German national with more than 35 years’ experience, Mueller has worked in several countries, most recently as GM of the Sheraton Hongqiao Hotel, Shanghai.
MANISH PRATAP has been appointed as the new Director of Revenue Management for the Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket. An Indian national, Pratap had stints in Mumbai and Doha before return to India to work at the Hilton Chennai Guindy and Hyatt Regency Chennai.
NARAWAT TAKONSUB has been appointed Director of Sales for Zinc InVision Hospitality. A Thai national, Ms Narawat has 16 years’ experience including spells with Starwood and Hilton. She was previously Director of Sales at the Dusit Thani Pattaya.
LI QUN XU has become the new Chinese Chef at the Sofitel Plaza Hanoi, heading the kitchen at the property’s recently refurbished Ming Restaurant. Born in Beijing, Chef Li has 20 years’ experience and has cooked for the British Royal family and Jackie Chan.
