Qantas Club members in Sydney will be able to try prize-winning pies as part of a new pop-up food trial the airline is hosting across its Australian Qantas Clubs.
The first event, which will be held in Sydney on 12 September, will be followed by events in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth throughout the year.
The idea behind the venture is to bring Australia’s most celebrated chefs to Qantas passengers with the Sydney date being developed by Merivale’s Bert’s Pies.
Qantas domestic executive manager customer experience Samantha Taranto said: “We’re really excited to introduce the pop-up restaurant initiative to our Qantas Club members.
“Our blubs provide a great space for members to work, relax and unwind between or before flights. They are also the perfect place for our customers to enjoy good food and wine. Qantas has a great reputation for partnering with Australia’s best suppliers and challenging the notion of traditional airline food.
“Pop-up restaurants are just another way Qantas is pushing the boundaries in how they source, prepare and serve food to ensure customers enjoy a quality and unique dining experience while travelling. We’re looking forward to holding the next event in one of our other flagship lounges and partnering with more talented chefs including our own Qantas consulting chef, Neil Perry.
Last month we reported that Qantas had reported profits of US$5.3 million.
