This week’s industry appointments

London Hilton on Park Lane has appointed Sergio Moreira director of food and beverage.

In his new role, the former director of F&B at Brown’s London will be charged with enhancing and influencing the overall guest experience whilst supervising kitchen personnel and food planning.

Commenting on his new appointment, Moreira said: “It’s a pleasure to be joining such an esteemed team and working for a leading establishment in London. I’m looking forward to fulfilling the hotel’s commitment to delivering such high standards and looking at ways we can enrich the experience of every Hilton customer.”

Meanwhile, London Hilton on Park Lane has also announced the appointment of Yvonne Ottley as marketing and communications manager.

Ottley brings more than 10 years of marketing and communications experience to her new role. She joins Hilton Worldwide from Intercontinental Hotels Group, where she served as marketing manager at the flagship Crowne Plaza hotel in London.

Pierre & Vancances has appointed Elodie Salom its key account manager for Group Sales.

Salom is based in Brighton and will report to Cathy Rankin, the company’s sales director for the UK and Ireland.

In her new role, she will work to develop the group’s client-base for the coming winter season.

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has confirmed Thomas P. Ostebo will join CLIA as president and CEO on 6 July.

Ostebo will oversee CLIA’s global operations and work directly with his senior leadership team to execute the organisation’s vision and work on behalf of CLIA members.

A seasoned senior executive leader, Ostebo has more than 30 years’ experience leading large, sophisticated and complex organisations. He joins CLIA from the United States Coast Guard where he served as Rear Admiral. Mostly recently, Ostebo was director of Strategic Management where he supported strategy and budget policy for the Coast Guard. Ostebo also served as Commander for the Coast Guard 17th District and led all Coast Guard Operations in Alaska, the Arctic and North Pacific where he was responsible for protecting life and property, enforcing federal laws and treaties, preserving the living marine resources and promoting national security.

The appointment follows the departure of Christine Duffy, former CLIA president and CEO on 31 January.  CLIA relied on the services of executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles to lead the search for a new president and CEO.
