Tibet Airlines will launch its first ever international flights next month.
The carrier will initially operate three weekly flights between Chengdu, in southwest China’s Sichuan province, and Koh Samui.
Services will depart Chengdu’s Shuangliu International Airport every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 1230, arriving in the Thai resort island at 1500. The return flights will leave Samui at 1600 and arrive back in Chengdu at 1930. Tibet Airlines will deploy its 128-seat Airbus A319 aircraft on the route.
Two other Chinese carriers, Lucky Air and Capital Airlines, currently operate services to Koh Samui, from Kunming and Chongqing respectively, and China Southern Airlines operates seasonal charters to the island from Guangzhou.
Based in Lhasa and with an operating hub in Chengdu, Tibet Airlines currently operates domestic services to 23 Chinese cities using its fleet of 14 A319 and A320 aircraft. The carrier is part-owned by Air China.
