Jet2Villas has revealed the average holidaymaker takes three home comforts with them and one in five (20%) pack five creature comforts or more.

With two thirds (66%) bringing some sort of home comfort on holiday with them, the research shows some of the steps we take to have a sense of home when away.

The poll shows:

· 44% of Britons take their own tea bags on holiday and 15% switch the kettle on the moment they arrive
· One in three (30%) bring their own slippers and 19% take their own pillow
· One in ten (10%) take their own cutlery and best china on holiday

The survey also asked what aspects of home Britons would take with them on holiday if they could. Their own bed (56%), the privacy of their home (40%), their TV (30%) and their car (25%) top the list. With a favourite home-cooked meal also on the list of things people would take with them, 15% say they overcome this by enjoying a roast dinner on a Sunday when on holiday.

With Britons reporting privacy as critical when getting away from it all, the survey looked at the reasons for this and found that 50% have bumped into someone they know on holiday, with half of those taking deliberate steps to physically avoid them. One in four (25%) have bumped into a friend on holiday and one in ten (10%) have even bumped into a work colleague.

The research is published by Jet2holidays as it launches Jet2Villas, a new villa offer with hundreds of properties on sale. The new proposition offers customers privacy and the freedom of a villa, with all the benefits of a package holiday, and car-hire included.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “We recognise that our customers like to enjoy certain home comforts, in addition to switching off and getting away from it all when they are on their well-deserved holidays. Our new Jet2Villas proposition caters for holidaymakers in that it offers privacy, freedom and car hire with all the added benefits of a package holiday included too. Our new villas product really chimes with this research so although customers cannot take their own beds on holiday with them, the quality and comfort of our villa holidays mean that they will not miss them anyway.”
