UAE air traffic on the rise

The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) recently disclosed its air traffic movements in the UAE. Statistics stated that air traffic grew at a rate of 2.9% in July 2013 compared to the same period in 2012.
The GCAA report indicated that total air traffic movements in July 2013 were 63213 with an average of 2039 air traffic movements per day.
As per the report, Dubai ranked first with 29074 traffic movements. Over flights stood next at 12322 air traffic movements. Abu Dhabi ranked third with 10064 air traffic movements. According to the report, air traffic movements in Sharjah International Airport ranked fourth with 5365 movements. Local flights between UAE airports were in the fifth position with 5310 movements. Al Maktoum International Airport witnessed 507 movements, Fujairah International Airport witnessed 84 movements, while Ras Al Khaimah International Airport had 382 air traffic movements and Al Ain Airport had 105 air traffic movements.
