United Airlines is not liable for the destruction of one of the World Trade Center’s North Tower on 9/11, a US court has ruled.
The judge ruled in the airline’s favour, saying United had “no connection to Flight 11 or its hijackers”.
Flight 11 was operated by American Airlines, but the owners of the World Trade Center had filed a lawsuit against United, claiming the airline could have prevented the hijacking by stopping the terrorists on an earlier flight.
Bloomberg reported a spokesperson for Silverstein Properties as saying the company was “disappointed” by the judge’s ruling, and said it would pursue a second lawsuit again United for the destruction of the South Tower by United flight 175.
