United Airlines has unveiled details of its new Boeing 787 Dreamliners, the first of which will be delivered to the airline in September.

The new twin-aisle aircraft will be configured with 219 seats in a three-class layout, with 36 in United BusinessFirst, 72 seats in United Economy Plus and 111 seats in United Economy. United’s 787 fleet will also feature a special livery, with a gold line wrapping around the fuselage from nose to tail. United said this addition is inspired by the trademark swoosh painted on each of Boeing’s aircraft, and is “a tribute to the two companies’ long history of working together”.

United, the North American launch customer of the Dreamliner, is planning to put five Boeing 787s into service in 2012. The airline has ordered a total of 50 Dreamliners, to be delivered from now until 2019.

The airline will use the aircraft to launch a brand new service between Denver and Tokyo next year, but plans to connect Houston and Auckland with the Dreamliner have been shelved.
