VietJet Air is increasing its domestic flight offerings for the summer, including the launch of a brand new route to Phu Quoc Island.
The Vietnamese low-cost carrier will commence services from Hanoi to the southern resort island on 28 May 2014, with daily flights offering more than 1,200 weekly seats in each direction. Flights will depart Hanoi every day at 1310, arriving in Phu Quoc at 1540. The return service then leaves the island at 1610, getting back into Vietnam’s capital at 1840.
Meanwhile, VietJet is also raising the frequency of several key routes this summer, in order to meet an expected rise in demand. The route from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi will increase to 14 flights per day, while HCMC-Danang will increase to seven daily flights and Hanoi-Danang will be served four times a day.
The routes from Hanoi and HCMC to Nha Trang will both be operated three times a day, as will the service from HCMC to the former royal capital of Hue. And in addition to the daily Hanoi-Phu Quoc flights, VietJet will also raise the frequency of its HCMC-Phu Quoc route to three flights per day.
“As to meet demand of passengers in summer season, VietJet not only opens more new routes… but also increases the frequency. VietJet has recently received new aircraft… [which] enables us to implement our plan,” said Desmond Lin, VietJet’s director of business development.
VietJet currently operates 24 domestic and international routes, and is planning a major expansion across Asia Pacific in the coming months and years.
