Holidaymakers flying from Manchester Airport will have more options next summer from Virgin Atlantic.
The carrier has announced it will increase capacity to Orlando and Las Vegas from the north England airport in summer 2015 following high demand.
An extra 24 flights will operate to Orlando and Las Vegas, adding 8,000 seats compared to this summer.
Frequencies will include two flights a day on Thursdays and Sundays to Orlando in July and August, offering 13 flights a week in total on the route.
The Las Vegas service will have an additional weekly flight between July and October, operating on a Tuesday.
“We’re really pleased to announce we’re increasing capacity from Manchester to Orlando and Las Vegas for summer next year” said Joe Thompson, director of network and alliances at Virgin Atlantic. “Our focus is on our customers and giving them the best service at a competitive price. Our reductions in fuel surcharges, competitive pre-Christmas sale fares and the Government’s cuts in APD for children have all laid the foundations for a great 2015 for our customers and, particularly, next year’s summer holiday-makers.”
The new route has further fuelled Manchester Airport’s ‘Fly Manchester’ campaign to bring more customers back to the facility.
“The airline’s commitment to Manchester showcases the potential for long-haul carriers here in the North West of England. As we enter 2015 we will continue to add more long-haul routes to Manchester Airport and announcements like this highlight the critical role we play in UK aviation,” said Mats Sigurdson, aviation director at Manchester Airports Group (MAG).
