Virgin Australia has launched three new flights between Cairns, Launceston and Hobart, and the Gold Coast as travel confidence improves.

To be operational by the beginning of December, Virgin Australia’s three new routes between Gold Coast, Hobart, and Launceston will carry over 19,000 additional passengers each month, boosting the local economy and the tourism industry while allowing more Virgin Australia employees to fly again.

With the new route, customers will fly directly between Launceston and the Gold Coast for the first time in 20 years. The flight will operate three times per week and carry up to 4,224 extra people per month.

Up to $79 one-way prices are available till the end of the day on 15 October.

For the school holidays last month, Virgin Australia offered a promotional bonus status offer that included double Status Credits.

For this reason, Virgin Australia is pleased to announce three new Gold Coast routes beginning in December. Alistair Hartley, Virgin Australia’s Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer, said: “Virgin Australia recognize[s] there’s a growing need and increased confidence to travel.”

He added that the airline was “proud” to be the first to link Launceston and the Gold Coast cities in more than two decades.

‘From December, up to 4,224 people, a month can now experience the spectacular beaches and theme parks of the Gold Coast and explore the lavender estate of Launceston and the Tamar Valley’s wine region.’

In addition, Virgin Australia has declared that it will restore service between Adelaide and the Sunshine Coast soon. The flights are scheduled to begin on 14 December 2021 and run four times each week, carrying 5,632 passengers each way.

Until 11.59 AEST Friday, 15 October 2021, tickets are on sale at virginaustralia.com for $79 one-way Economy sale rates, unless they’re sold out beforehand.

Gold Coast, Launceston, and Hobart will have seasonal service, while Gold Coast and Cairns will have year-round service.

Velocity is offering double Status Credits as part of its promotional bonus offer to celebrate the sale, which debuted last month.

Virgin Australia is removing applicable change costs and allowing unlimited modifications for tickets made between now and 28 February 2022 to give consumers additional peace of mind when booking.
