LateRooms.com has announced its top-rated hotels for 2016, revealing the best-loved hotels in the UK as part of its third annual Simply The Guest Awards.
The results cast a light on the regions and property types that have performed best over the past year and are calculated using one simple metric – the genuine reviews left by guests on the hotel booking website.
For a hotel to achieve the prestigious Top Rated status they must have received an average review score of at least 80% during 2015, left only by those who have booked and completed their stay with LateRooms.com during 2015.
And this year, B&Bs in Yorkshire have, on average, received the best guest satisfaction scores.
The region has the highest proportion of Top Rated properties in the UK. Yorkshire is also home to four locations that make it inside the UK’s Top 20 best reviewed list, with Whitby, Harrogate, Scarborough and York all scoring an average hotel review rating of more than 87%.
Whitby’s hotels have the highest score in the UK for guest satisfaction, with an average guest review score of 92%, with Torquay (91%) and Keswick (89%) named in second and third place respectively.
B&Bs score an average guest review rating of 90%, followed by luxury hotels and boutique hotels are close behind with average satisfaction scores of 87% and 85% respectively.
Countryside and coastal properties outranked city centre accommodation when it came to guest review scores, with properties in the countryside scoring 86.8% on average, in comparison to 79.9% amongst their city-based counterparts.
