The owners of the QE2 announced this week that the ship will have a permanent home at the heart of Dubai’s Port Rashid, ending a period of uncertainty for the iconic liner.
The vessel will be moored next to the port’s original cruise terminal and converted into a 300-room luxury hotel, with top end facilities, whilst the old terminal itself will be converted into a maritime museum.
Once converted, the QE2 Hotel will display the ship’s collection of artworks and other historical assets acquired during her nearly 40 years in operation.
The 239-metre vessel and the connected maritime museum is expected to become a leading tourist attraction at Port Rashid.
