Accor has boosted its Chinese portfolio with the opening of a new Grand Mercure hotel in the city of Dongguan, Guangdong province.
The Grand Mercure Dongguan Shijie is located in the centre of Shijie Town, 20km from downtown Dongguan and close to the city’s Shi Long Railway Station. The new upscale property offers 263 rooms, all featuring LCD TV sets, Wi-Fi and iPod docking stations.
Catering specifically for Chinese guests, the hotel offers 24-hour congee, along with a range of local condiments, while a range of Chinese teas is available in the lobby. The hotel has three F&B outlets, an international all-day restaurant called Senses, the Regal Garden Chinese restaurant and Fuji, the hotel’s Japanese outlet. There is also a cigar Lounge.
Leisure facilities include a fitness centre and outdoor swimming pool, while the hotel also holds morning tai-chi sessions.
Grand Mercure Dongguan Shijie will also offer conference and banqueting space with one ballroom and seven function rooms, catering for up to 800 people.

Accor’s Grand Mercure portfolio in China now stands 13 hotels, with a further 14 scheduled to open by 2015.
