Dubai Mall attracts 65mn visitors in 2012

Dubai Mall for the last year attracted 65mn visitors, an increase of more than 20% compared to 54mn visitors hosted by the mall in 2011.
Retail sales across various outlets also reported growth of 24% over 2011.
Dubai Mall attracts more number of visitors than annual tourists to New York City at over 52 million and Los Angeles at 41mn in 2012. Mohamed Alabbar, chairman of Emaar Properties, said: “The impressive growth achieved by Dubai Mall energises the core sectors of the economy including retail, which contributes significantly to the Emirate’s GDP.”
Dubai Mall’s new expansion includes creation of a boulevard like high-end shopping strip that will feature personalised flagship stores of international brands.
