Adventure travel specialist Explore has seen its customers shift away from travelling during the popular summer months to the autumn period.
Across eight years the tour operator has increasingly seen more take holidays between October and December rather than July to September, with 7.6% more taking autumn holidays compared to summer in 2012.
“August and September are certainly still popular times of year for people to travel overseas; however we’re finding that those seeking more adventurous and cultural holidays are increasingly keen to travel outside of this period” said Explores’ sales director Carl Burrows.
“Holidaying later in the year means people are can enjoy a British summer at home, and then have an exciting break to look forward to once the autumn and winter months draw in,” he added.
The trend also allows customers to avoid crowds and paying higher holiday costs due to the school holidays.
