Malaysia Airlines has unveiled a major expansion of its US operations, following a new codeshare agreement with American Airlines.
The two oneworld members have expanded their existing codeshare partnership with the addition of 260 domestic connecting flights to and from Los Angeles and New York JFK airports. This includes links to major US cities such as Dallas, Washington DC, Miami, Chicago and St Louis.
MAS initially signed a codeshare agreement with American Airlines in March 2013, placing its ‘MH’ code on flights to five cities in the US. This later grew to 16 cities with close to 200 weekly flights per week, and from 1 August 2014 11 more cities will be added via Los Angeles and New York, offering 260 more domestic flights.
Connecting to these services, MAS will also codeshare on American’s services to Dallas from Hong Kong and Seoul from this month.
“We are happy to strengthen our relationship with American Airlines. As one of the world’s leading airlines and a major force in the USA, Malaysia Airlines is able to confidently offer our guests the same level of service from end-to end”, said MAS CEO, Ahmad Jauhari Yahya.
MAS passengers now can fly on American’s trans-Pacific services to LAX, Dallas and Chicago via Tokyo, Seoul and Hong Kong, or trans-Atlantic links from London, Paris and Frankfurt to New York, Dallas, Miami, Chicago and Raleigh-Durham.
