China Eastern Airlines has launched the first trans-Pacific services from Fuzhou, the capital of southwest China’s Fujian province.

On 27 November 2014, the airline commenced a new route between Fuzhou and New York, with a stop in Shanghai.

As an extension of the airline’s existing daily Shanghai-New York flights, the Fuzhou connection will operate twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays). Flights will operate using a new 318-seat Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

The services will depart Fuzhou’s Changle International Airport at 0755, arriving at New York’s JFK Airport at 1325. The return leg will then take-off from New York at 1525, and get back to Fuzhou at 2245 the next day.

The route is designed to serve the large community of Chinese expats who originate in Fujian province.
