Hilton Worldwide has opened its first ever Conrad hotel in southeast China’s Fujian province.

The brand new Conrad Xiamen opened on 18 August 2016 as part of a dramatic 300-metre-tall skyscraper overlooking the Taiwan Strait.

“Conrad Xiamen is an excellent addition to our China portfolio. It underscores our commitment to growing our presence across the top destinations of this market and our confidence in the increasing demand for luxury accommodations from a new generation of smart luxury travellers,” said Bruce McKenzie, Hilton’s senior vice president of operations for Greater China & Mongolia.

Conrad Xiamen occupies the 37th to 54th floors of the new Shimao Straits Tower, which is set in the Siming business district of Xiamen Island. Then new seafront development also features a shopping mall, cinema complex and dining precinct, all of which are connected to the hotel. Xiamen’s Gaoqi International Airport is 22km away.

The hotel offers a total of 241 rooms and suites, which average 60m² in size and have floor-to-ceiling windows, walk-in wardrobes and Nespresso coffee machines. There is also a range of club rooms that offer access to the hotel’s 54th floor executive lounge.

Other facilities include five F&B outlets, most notably the 54th floor Coast Bar & Grill which includes “the highest bar in town”, and a 37th floor health club that features a fitness centre, 25-metre indoor pool overlooking the sea, a jacuzzi and spa.

And for the MICE market, the hotel offers more than 2,000m² of function space including eight meeting rooms and a 760m² ballroom.

Conrad Xiamen becomes the luxury brand’s sixth property in mainland China, following Conrad Sanya Haitang Bay, Conrad Dalian, Conrad Hong Kong, Conrad Macao and Conrad Beijing. Hilton is also planning to launch the 306-room Conrad Guangzhou later this year, and further properties in Hangzhou, Changsha, Shenzhen and Ningbo are all expected to open by 2020.
