Abu Dhabi is keen to tap into the Italian market. The eight-strong Abu Dhabi delegation will be headed to Rimini in Italy next month to participate in the 50th edition of TTG Incontri from 17-19 October 2013.
The Authority will be looking to build both inbound visitors and the average-length-of-stay of the Italian hotel guest. Mubarak Al Nuaimi, director overseas offices and promotions, TCA Abu Dhabi said: “We are witnessing ever greater numbers of Italians staying in our hotels This indicates there is great growth potential.”
The Yas Viceroy also reported a pick-up in its leisure business following opening of the Yas Waterworld water park and Yas Beach, which is free-to-enter for hotel guests.
“Business this year is really picking up due to increased offering on Yas Island,” said Julie Audette, the hotel’s director of public relations, communications & marketing. “The hotel’s 2014 focus will continue to be on group and leisure business. Our aim, quite simply, is to increase guests and revenue from the European continent.”
From January to July this year 25,621 Italians stayed in Abu Dhabi’s hotels and hotel apartments – a 23% increase on the first seven months of last year. Together Italian guests accounted for 129,678 guest nights, which is a year-on-year rise of 11%. Italians rank amongst Abu Dhabi’s longest stayers with an average of just over five nights.
