Accor has launched its first MGallery hotel in Adelaide, following the rebranding of a former Mercure property.
The Grand Mercure Mount Lofty House, which dates back to 1852 and overlooks South Australia’s wine region, 15 minutes from the centre of Adelaide, has been rebadged simply as the Mount Lofty House. It now joins the MGallery – Accor’s collection of unbranded upscale boutique hotels.
“Mount Lofty House has forever been a landmark hotel for many Australians, particularity South Australians who enjoy the hotel’s fascinating history and distinctive ambience of stepping back into yesteryear,” said Mount Lofty House’s GM, Craig Dodd.
“With recent enhancements to the property including three beautifully-appointed self contained cottages, adding luxurious options for families and groups, it is very exciting to see the hotel evolve and offer guests new experiences as it joins the prestigious MGallery Collection.”
The rebranded property now includes 33 rooms and suites, with eight rooms in the original heritage wing and 25 rooms in the Piccadilly wing. In addition, the adjacent self-contained and individually designed Piccadilly Cottage accommodates up to five guests and the Coachman’s Cottage sleeps up to six guests.
Facilities at the hotel include 4.9 hectares of gardens, an outdoor swimming pool, billiard room, volleyball court, flood-lit tennis court and a library.
Mount Lofty House becomes the eighth MGallery member in Australia and New Zealand, following existing properties in Melbourne, Sydney, Palm Cove, Leura and Queenstown.
