Air China has launched its brand new Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental aircraft on the Beijing-Shanghai route.
The aircraft, which is the largest in Air China’s fleet, touched down at Shanghai’s Hongqiao International Airport on 28 October and will now operate the daily morning flight on the route.
From 11 November, Air China will increase its B747-8 flights on the Shanghai route to double daily, before launching the aircraft on long-haul routes in 2015. Frankfurt and Los Angeles are expected to be the first international destinations for the B747-8.
Air China is the first Asian carrier to operate the passenger version of the B747-8. The aircraft features 365 seats in a four-class cabin configuration, including 12 seats in first class, 54 in business class, and a total of 299 premium economy and economy class seats.
Air China will receive seven B747-8 Intercontinental aircraft by end of 2015.
