Indonesia’s Archipelago International has opened its first Hotel NEO in Malaysia.
The new Hotel NEO+ Penang was officially unveiled last week in a ceremony attended by the Chief Minister of Penang, Lim Guan Eng. As well as becoming the brand’s first property in Malaysia, it also marks the first Hotel NEO anywhere outside Indonesia.
Located on Gurdwara Road in Georgetown, 30 minutes’ drive from Penang International Airport, the new Hotel NEO+ Penang offers 196 rooms and suites, all with free Wi-Fi, LED TVs, home entertainment systems and universal electrical outlets. The property also offers six meeting and function rooms, a swimming pool, gym and lounge.
“We at Archipelago International are absolutely delighted to be expanding our NEO brand to Malaysia for the first time. Not only does this mark another fantastic milestone in the Archipelago history book, it’s also a great milestone for our NEO brand and proof of its success thus far,” said John Flood, president & CEO of Archipelago.
Archipelago markets Hotel NEO as a “hip and new” brand targeting “savvy young travellers”. All hotels are new-builds, and the Penang property becomes the 14th hotel in the NEO portfolio, following existing properties in such destinations as Bali, Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Semarang. In future, new Hotel NEOs will rise in Medan, Kupang, Solo, Surabaya and Banjarbaru.
