Archipelago International will add multiple new Harper Hotels across Indonesia in the coming years.
Harper, which features “three- and four-star new-build hotels” made its debut in Bali in October 2013 and has since launched in Yogyakarta. And the brand will now be expanded to six new locations across Indonesia in the next two years.
The new Harper Hotels will open in Jakarta, Purwakarta, Bandung, Makassar, Bogor and Solo.
“Indonesia has seen extraordinary economic growth over the past four to five years, and the hotel industry has predominantly been driven by the local market,” said John Flood, president & CEO of Archipelago International. “Much of this growth has arisen from catering to the middle-segment of the market, namely the two-, three- and four-star hotels. Nowadays in our increasingly anxious world, people want comfort and functionality, and it’s no secret today’s guests want to be reminded of home.
“That’s why Harper’s modern-rustic design concept uses warm, rich colours to offer comfort in each room. Harper Hotels convey a residential feel and a balanced functionality, offering unobtrusive service and never ending innovation – hotels for the astute traveller who values individualism and character. Our expansion in Indonesia is certainly one of our strategies, but we have always focused on quality rather than quantity,” Flood added.
The expansion of the Harper brand will kick off in Q3 2015 with the launch of the 131-room Harper MT Haryono Jakarta and the 130-room Harper Purwakarta in West Java.
Then in Q4 2015, the company will launch the 256-room Harper Pasteur in Indonesia’s third largest city, Bandung, and the 159-room Harper Perintis Makassar, on the island of Sulawesi. Opening “shortly after” these hotels will be the Harper Puncak Gate, a 301-room hotel in Bogor, West Java.
And Archipelago has also announced the signing of its first Harper in Solo, Central Java, which will is scheduled to open in Q1 2017 and will feature 250 rooms.
Most of the new Harper hotels will offer facilities including meeting rooms, coffee shops and swimming pools.
Harper is one of seven brands operated by Archipelago, alongside Aston, Kamuela Villas, Hotel NEO, Alana Hotels, Favehotel and Quest Hotels.
