Archipelago International has helped preserve the natural environment in Kalimantan by holding a major tree-planting event in Balikpapan.
The Indonesian hotel group marked the global ‘One Million Trees Day’ this month by teaming up with Balikpapan’s Board of the Environment to plant 50 trees in the area. It also made a commitment to take care of the saplings and ensure the preservation of the trees in the future.
The event was attended by staff from the company’s Favehotel, NEO, Quest, and Aston hotels in Balikpapan.
“Indonesia is one of the most beautiful and diverse countries on the planet,” said Tenaiya Brookfield, Archipelago’s vice president of sales & marketing.
“We hope the generations to come can enjoy the same beauty we all do today. It’s only through initiatives for conserving forests, animal diversity, water, energy, clean air and other eco-friendly solutions in all sectors of business which will help maintain Indonesia’s beauty. Every step counts, just like every seed counts.”
The event was held on the morning of 23 January in Bendali III, Balikpapan, and attended by the head of Balikpapan’s Board of the Environment, Suryanto.
