Ascott adds three more properties in Southeast Asia

Singapore-based serviced residence operator Ascott has continued its expansion in Southeast Asia with the launch of new properties in Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
In addition to the opening of the Citadines Grand Central Sri Racha in Thailand, which was reported by Travel Daily this week, the company has also added its first serviced residences in the Cyberjaya, Malaysia, and the Vietnamese port city of Haiphong.
The 203-unit Citadines DPulze Cyberjaya becomes Ascott’s its fifth property in Malaysia, the 136-unit Citadines Grand Central Sri Racha its 10th in Thailand, while the 132-unit Somerset Central TD Haiphong City becomes the company’s ninth serviced residence in Vietnam.
“Last year we opened 17 properties and added 28 properties with over 4,800 apartment units to our global portfolio,” said Ascott’s CEO, Lee Chee Koon. “In 2015, there will be no let up in our expansion. We are on track to achieve our target of 40,000 apartment units worldwide by end this year and aim to have 80,000 units by 2020.
“Ascott is the largest international serviced residence owner-operator in Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. Today, we have opened our first properties in Cyberjaya, Sri Racha and Haiphong to cater to the increasing demand from multinational companies that are setting up base in these growing cities.
“Globally, we have another over 50 properties to be opened, of which more than 20 are slated to open this year in China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, Oman and Saudi Arabia,” he added.
Located 20 minutes’ drive from Kuala Lumpur, Citadines DPulze Cyberjaya is attached to the new DPulze Shopping Centre and features a range of studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments. Facilities include a swimming pool, fitness area, lounge and meeting rooms.
Citadines Grand Central Sri Racha is set on Thailand’s eastern seaboard and offers a range of serviced apartments and a rooftop pool. Finally the Somerset Central TD Haiphong City is located just five minutes’ drive away from Cat Bi International Airport and includes studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, a swimming pool, lounge, library and children’s playroom.
Ascott now operates more than 26,000 serviced apartment units across Asia Pacific, Europe and the Gulf region, with a further 12,000 under development.
