Singapore-based serviced apartment giant Ascott has unveiled plans to expand its Citadines brand to two more Asian destinations.

The company has secured contracts to manage its first ever Citadines Apart’hotel properties in Vietnam and the Malaysian state of Sabah. The 200-unit Citadines Regency Saigon and 253-unit Citadines Waterfront Kota Kinabalu are both scheduled to in 2018.

“Citadines is one of our fastest-growing brands. Since we fully acquired the Citadines Apart’hotel chain in 2004, we have more than doubled our Citadines portfolio from the initial 5,100 apartment units in 18 European cities to more than 12,000 units in 81 properties and 52 cities across Asia Pacific, Europe and the Gulf region,” said Lee Chee Koon, Ascott’s CEO.

“We see tremendous opportunities for our international-class serviced residences to expand in Vietnam [and] Malaysia.”
Citadines Regency Saigon will offer a range of studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments, plus a swimming pool, fitness centre, business lounge, breakfast lounge and laundrette.

Citadines Waterfront Kota Kinabalu meanwhile, will includes units with up to three bedrooms, along with a swimming pool, children’s pool, gymnasium, roof garden, lounge and meeting facilities.

Ascott currently operates properties in the Vietnamese cities of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Haiphong and Danang, plus the Malaysian destinations of Kuala Lumpur, Iskandar and Kuching.
