Asiana Airlines will fly its Airbus A380 to New York for the first time this summer.
From 13 June 2015, the South Korean carrier will operate the A380 three times a week between Seoul’s Incheon International Airport and New York’s JFK Airport, replacing the Boeing 777 that currently serves the trans-Pacific route.
The outbound flights will depart Seoul every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 1020, arriving in New York at 1110 the same day, having crossed the International Date Line. The return services will then leave JFK on the same days at 1325, arriving back at Incheon at 1635 the following day.
Then from 15 July to 24 October 2015, the frequency of the A380 flights will increase to daily.
Asiana currently operates two A380s and has a further four on order. All these double-decker jets will come equipped with 495 seats in three classes – 12 in first class, 66 in business class and 417 on economy.
Asiana currently operates its A380s to Los Angeles, and will continue to do so this summer, along with the New York service.
