Archipelago International has launched its upscale Aston hotel brand on the Gili Islands, near Lombok.

The hotelier has taken over the management of the Quinn Villas on Gili Trawangan – the largest of the three Gilis – and rebranded it as the Aston Sunset Beach Resort.

“We are delighted to introduce the Aston brand to the stunning island of Gili Trawangan. As one of the most up and coming tourist destinations in Indonesia, we are extremely confident about increasing our presence in this thriving area, together with our six other projects that we have underway,” said Norbert Vas, Archipelago’s vice president of sales & marketing.

Aston Sunset Beach Resort is located on the west side of Gili Trawangan and features 114 rooms, including 10 one-bedroom pool villas and one royal pool suite.

Resort facilities include a restaurant, bar, club lounge, swimming pool with pool bar and a dive centre. The resort can be accessed by speedboat from Lombok.

As Vas explained, Archipelago now has six more hotel projects under development on Lombok, including three favehotels, a three-star Aston City hotel in Mataram, and a four-star Aston in Senggigi. There will also be a luxury Royal Kamuela resort with pool villas on Sengiggi Beach, which is due to open in November 2014.
