Belmond reopens luxury Angkor hotel

Belmond, the hotel group formerly known as Orient-Express, has reopened its luxury hotel in Siem Reap, the gateway to Cambodia’s Angkor Wat.

Following a complete refurbishment, La Résidence d’Angkor has relaunched with new interiors and new accommodations including a deluxe poolside suite, 20 poolside junior suites, 12 garden junior suites, eight deluxe studio suites and 18 junior suites. These are set around a central saltwater swimming pool.

A new meeting room has also been added, catering for events of up to 90 people, while the hotel’s fine dining restaurant will reopen as Spice Circle, including “pop-up tuk-tuk food displays”. The Ember restaurant now has a new show kitchen and pizza oven, while the hotel also now features an outdoor dining space and water feature.

Finally, an collection of artworks curated by Southeast Asian art specialist Roger Nelson is now on display throughout the hotel, and Nelson has also selected collection of books for the hotel’s new library. In early 2017, La Résidence d’Angkor will introduce a series of new guest experiences activities that focus on local culture, including the area’s famous temples.

Belmond operates five luxury hotels in Southeast Asia, located in Siem Reap, Bali, Luang Prabang, Yangon and Koh Samui, as well as the Eastern & Oriental Express train.
