Beaches in Dubai will be rated on cleanliness and water quality under the Blue Flag programme, a voluntary eco-label action recognised by the UN, Gulf News reported.
All beaches and marinas seeking the Blue Flag certification will be subject to assessments and spot-checks from national, regional and international panels, the report said.
Razan Al Mubarak, Managing Director of Emirates Wildlife Society (EWS), which is co-ordinating the programme with Blue Flag, said the ratings would support the protection of the UAE’s beautiful coastline.
